Mariza - Terra

Born in Mozambique but raised in Portugal, singer Mariza became one of the most popular fado performers ever after releasing her debut album, called Fado Em Mim. She appeared in Sydney at the Festival awhile ago and floored the audience who were captivated by her highly stylized performances of fado (destiny in English) a Portuguese style based on different folk rhythms.

Her new cd "Terra" is a genuine gem. The music on has a jazzy touch and also embraces Flamenco but above all, it contains as much Fado as you can possibly get.

Guests on the album are, amongst others, singer Buika (# Pequenas Verdades), pianist Chucho Valdes (# As Guitarras) & singer Tito Paris (# Beijo de suadade).
