2001 European CD release. With Pete McGurk & Chris Karan. Originally released in 1966.
A companion album to Vol. 2 (HRKCD 8019) this good-natured and sometimes mischievous set of standards subversively torn to shreds was Dudley s first foray into the world of jazz LPs. Nine tracks including two Moore originals. Dudley's brief original commentaries on the individual tracks are reproduced here with an essay by Peter Hamilton, the editor of Bedazzled a (sadly now defunct but well-worth seeking out) fanzine dedicated to the escapades and media appearances of both Moore and Peter Cook. Hamilton ropes in his mother s recollections of the so-called Swinging Sixties to paint a realistic landscape of the music scene at that time. :
