Andrea Keller created Transients as a series of trios inspired by late mentor Allan Browne's musical philosophy. Dedicated to a collective approach to music making, the trios stem from a jazz tradition, which they interpret with an uninhibited, and sometimes unconventional, Australian accent.

Each version of Transients brings with it a unique repertoire and dynamism, focussing on presenting original compositions and repertoire from the Australian jazz tradition. Since the launch of Transients in January 2016, Keller's trios have transformed and expanded to include an extensive pool of creative Melbourne musicians both emerging and established.

Over the years the trios have performed at many of Melbourne's jazz clubs (including ongoing residencies at Bennetts Lane: August 2016 - February 2017, and at Uptown Jazz Cafe: April 2017 - current), Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Ballarat Winter Festival, NGV Friday Nights, and Perth International Jazz Festival.

Over 2 days in October 2018 Keller took to Melbourne's iconic Allan Eaton Studio in St Kilda with a team of stellar musicians (including Wilson/Anning/Keller, Hale/McLean/Keller, Magnusson/Fisher/Keller + Flora Carbo & James Macaulay) to capture a cross-section of Transients and many previously unrecorded compositions. Transients Volume 1 is one half of the result, with the other half, Transients Volume 2, being scheduled for release in November 2019.
