“For the best part of 35 years, her distinctive saxophone and flute style – warm, open, immensely accomplished but never flashy – has been a constant presence. Jazz fashions and ideologies have come and gone but Barbara has just blithely carried on being Barbara, always herself, always contemporary.”
The Observer Review, Dave Gelly MBE, 1 April 2001
3 years prior to her Parkinson’s diagnosis, Barbara Thompson is at the height of her powers in this live show filmed at Leverkusener Jazztage Festival for German TV. Featuring her husband, legendary drummer Jon Hiseman, keyboard player Peter Lemer with Malcolm MacFarlane on guitar and Paul Westwood on bass. The band perform tracks from their album Everlasting Flame released the year before - described in the Observer as ‘a perfect example of how to use the latest musical technology to make haunting, melodic and very human music’. A never-before-released live show - a must-have for fans.
