Listeners most familiar with Chick Corea through his work with Return to Forever and the Elektric Band will be very surprised if they stumble across this album The music on the sextet date (which includes trumpeter Woody Shaw and Hubert Laws on flute) is often quite free and explorative, exploring a variety of moods (some of them rather violent). Rambling and uneven (particularly during the 29-minute "Is"), this set is not essential but has its interesting moments.
