This 1969 masterpiece of Japanese bossa nova jazz features a quintet comprised of Japan's renowned shakuhachi player, Kunizan Yamamoto, and guitarist Shungo Sawada. The album showcases a selection of songs imbued with Japanese sentiment and brilliant modal jazz-influenced performances, resulting in a collection of exquisitely elegant and profound Japanese bossa nova pieces. Highlights include the brilliant and refined 60s bossa nova performances of "A5. Kuroda-bushi" and "B4. Seki no Gohonmatsu," as well as the cool and sophisticated "A1. Sanosa." The entire album is superb.
