Aussie tenor icon Jamie Oehlers is back with a fresh release that draws on the moods and settings of the night. The Perth stalwart blends his horn with the warm sounds of the Fender Rhodes across some ear-catching new tunes.
Jamie Oehlers has been keeping himself busy of late with his PhD on melody and improvisation - and that's on top of his teaching commitments at WAAPA. Luckily, his studies have led him to compose new music which has fed into this new CD called Night Music. Influenced by nocturnal themes, the record pairs the saxophonist with some of Western Australia's finest players: Ricki Malet on trumpet, Harry Mitchell on keys, Zac Grafton on bass and Ben Vanderwal on drums
This limited edition CD contains some incredible artwork by Matt Wright and was beautifully mixed and mastered by Phil Rex.
