Jan Harbeck Quartet - Conversation / vinyl LP

On Conversation, the Jan Harbeck Quartet captures the intuitive interplay that has defined the group through almost two decades of playing together. Led by Harbeck’s warm and expressive tenor saxophone, the quartet creates music that feels like an ongoing dialogue between the musicians, between sound and silence, and between the stage and the listener.

Harbeck’s original compositions form the heart of the album, balancing a subtle melancholy with openness, warmth and immediacy. These are melodies written specifically for this quartet and shaped by the distinctive musical personalities of pianist Henrik Gunde, bassist Eske Nørrelykke and drummer Anders Holm.

Recorded at The Village in Copenhagen, Conversation was captured with all four musicians playing together in the same room, without overdubs or post-production. The result preserves the natural, vibrant sound of the quartet and the sense of four musicians listening and responding to one another in real time.
