2-CD set contains improvised music from alto/soprano sax & flute player Julius Hemphill. Recorded in Toronto on March 1st, 1977, this "audiodrama" draws upon the rich & varied traditions of costuming as they are reflected in the archives of American show business. It is a work conceived with the city of New York as a setting. The environmental sounds & verbal images are peculiar to various landmarks & locales within the N.Y. area, and Hemphill plays his instruments to mimic & represent these sounds.
