Lorenzo De Finti Quartet - We Live Here

"After years of productions and concerts based on an electric kind of jazz, I really felt like I needed to turn the page and begin a new chapter in my musical adventure. I was looking for an acoustic at mosphere, for silence, for the right sound. I wanted a line up that could help me reach the intensity of a classical chamber ensemble. What came from this exercise is this Suite for Jazz Quartet. It took a lot of work to get there, but we are very happy wi th the final result. Writing, rehearsing and playing We Live Here took us into a musical space closer to classical music than jazz, although the final product, as someone has said, is “pure modern jazz”.

Recorded in the fantastic atmosphere of the RSI STU DIO 2 in Lugano, the Suite was composed by double bass player/composer Stefano Dall’Ora and myself. Playing with him, Marco Castiglioni, and Gendrickson Mena created a wonderful interplay in the Quartet. It was this marvelous collaboration in both the writ ten and improvised sections that enabled us to achieve the sound we only held in our minds when we began the recording session."
