This is the first new album in five years from tenor saxophone maestro Masafumi Yamaguchi, who has led the Japanese jazz scene for half a century. He is supported by trusted and skilled players Ryohei Komaki (bass) and Tamaya Honda (drums). This ambitious work features a cordless trio configuration, deliberately excluding piano. The way Yamaguchi's soundscape is shaped within the vast space created by the "cordless" arrangement is truly thrilling. The high-purity and high-concentration sound creates a refined sense of tension.
