Trumpeter Malachi Thompson joined the AACM in 1968. By now many jazz fans have become familiar with Malachi’s unique blend of free jazz and bop, which he calls Freebop. Malachi’s ninth album on Delmark, Timeline contains the “roots of Freebop” – Malachi’s earliest recordings dating back to 1972. Also contains previously unissued recordings from 1988 with Carter Jefferson, tenor sax; James King, bass; and Nasar Abadey, drums. Contains all original compositions including “Einstein”, “Picture of Patience”, “Wormhole”, “Some Freebop For Monk”, “Two Nights In Malakal”, “The Quest” and others.
