1969 recording
Released the year after his return from studying at Berklee, this is the monumental debut album by the brilliant Masahiko Sato, one of Japan's leading jazz pianists, with Yasuo Arakawa (b) and Masahiko Togashi (ds), and except for a cover of The Beatles, all the songs were originally scored by Masahiko Sato. It's a wonderful work where you can feel that his luscious and outstanding performance had already blossomed in the early stages of his career, from modal arrangements to post-bop/free music. Masahiko Togashi's playing is very cool.
