The concerts included in this release are from Miles Davis' 1969 tour with his so-called 3rd Quintet. This quintet was never recorded by Columbia Records. Only the radio and television recordings from various European sources exist, some of which were released by Columbia.
The Berlin and Rotterdam concerts were released elsewhere on DVD, and the Stockholm concert is available on CD.
All three are included on the upcoming release, with newly remastered sound by Michael Brändli.
The 3rd Quintet, including new members Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette, with its plugged-in instrumentation and revised repertoire, was electrified and electrifying, and the music on this tour created a separate identity for this short-lived ensemble, based upon the radical innovations of Bitches Brew.
