Originally released in 1973, Naosuke Miyamoto Sextet’s Step! is a standout modal jazz record. Led by bassist Naosuke Miyamoto, with Masayoshi Yoneda on piano and Takashi Goto on saxophone, the album features a powerful spiritual Japanese jazz moment on “One For Trane.” The lineup also includes Kunji Shigi on trumpet, alongside drummers Takashi Furuya and Shoji Nakayama.
Produced by Takeshi Jujii, the session was recorded on August 25, 1973.
