Two-time Grammy-nominated trumpeter Dave Douglas and Juno-nominated saxophonist Chet Doxas lead a collaborative project honoring the musical legacy of composer, bandleader, saxophonist and clarinetist Jimmy Giuffre.

Giuffre blazed many trails in music, inspiring new levels of melodic invention, rhythmic subtlety and improvisational freedom. Featuring Giuffre's own "The Train and the River," the standard "Travelin' Light" and originals from both Douglas and Doxas, Riverside puts a contemporary stamp on a small group improvisation while evoking the dynamic ensembles Giuffre led.
