To be honest, it's mainly his recent performances that are prompting me to write these few words today (see calendar below). There's certainly the scheduling of an artist, as he has to perform his concerts and release his albums, but there's also life that goes on, and that daunting expression that inevitably imposes itself, whatever the circumstances: the show must go on! And for Thierry Maillard, that's exactly it… a musician we're used to praising highly, whether solo, with his MLB Trio, the Ensemble Caméléon, Une Larme de pluie, or the Moog Project, which gave a sublime performance on June 27th of this year at the famous Ronnie Scott's in London… before Thierry lost his mother in July… And it was in a surge of love, creativity, and emotion that Thierry Maillard began composing and recording this album the following month. He needed to find close musician friends to support him through this painful ordeal, and for all of them, it wasn't the right time to abandon a friend while putting the finishing touches on this tribute album to a mother. Thus, it comprises 11 tracks, 11 memories of shared moments and intense emotions, conveyed more or less subtly, with tenderness and delicacy. Thierry plays piano, Fender Rhodes, and synthesizer to perform his compositions, accompanied by Dominique Di Piazza on bass, Yoann Schmidt on drums and percussion, Olivier Gay on cello on four tracks, and Philippe Gaillot on guitar on two others. A truly beautiful tribute, both understated and intense. An album that will give you chills, make you tremble with emotion, and bring tears to your eyes—it's so beautiful, so very beautiful… Dominique Boulay
