Release date 1994

In 1974, Tony was in the studio again to record his second solo album, and his first to be made specifically for Rebel. Titled California Autumn, the album definitely bore the imprint of the Rebel family of artists.

Although it was one of Tony Rice's earliest albums, California Autumn is a superb effort beautifully produced by John Starling and containing a good assortment of material showcasing Rice's outstanding guitar work. Rice's fine vocals also stand out, especially on tracks like 'Good Woman's Love,', 'Georgia On My Mind,' 'You Don't Know My Mind,' and brother Larry's 'Mr. Poverty.' In the way of instrumentals there are the lovely renditions of 'Beaumont Rag,' 'Red Haired Boy,' 'Scarborough Fair,' and 'Billy In The Low Ground.' The album recently received a significant update to its packaging, with new graphics, the addition of liner notes penned by Blue Highway front man and Rice enthusiast Tim Stafford as well as a number of previously unpublished photos of Tony.
