1998 CD release.

"Double Trouble" was originally written for two orchestras, the London and the Globe Unity, with Howard Riley and Alexander von Schlippenbach on piano. After the first performance in 1989 at the WDR in Cologne, the English musicians continued to play it alone and in 1990 published it as intakt-CD 019. Now, on "Double Trouble II" the soloists multiply again. «The sound world of two pianos, two percussionists and jazz orchestra return to energise our senses», writes Barry Guy in the programme and he does not promise too much.

"One of the most memorable albums of the London Jazz Composers Orchestra is this gloriously preposterous concert for two orchestras, released in 1998, with Irène Schweizer and Marilyn Crispell on piano. “Part I” is joyfully manic, as the doubled soloists roll over each other like wrestling cats. But “Part II,” where the musicians meld the enormous sound into a stately dream, is somehow even more impressive."
