One of the world’s best-selling albums, Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms, celebrates its 40th anniversary. Produced by Neil Dorfsman and Mark Knopfler, and recorded between November 1984 – March 1985 at AIR Studios, Montserrat and the Power Station NYC, Dire Straits’ 5th studio album Brothers In Arms was originally released on 17th May 1985. It was the first album to sell over a million copies on CD and went on to become the band’s most commercially successful album.
The album, featuring singles “So Far Away”, “Money For Nothing”, “Walk Of Life”, “Brothers In Arms” and “Your Latest Trick” spent 14 non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and is the 8th best-selling album in UK chart history. Its accolades include the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and the BRIT Award for Best British Album.
Includes the full album tracks and a previously unreleased full-length live concert from the band’s Municipal Auditorium, San Antonio tour stop in 1985. The Live In ’85 Tour ran a total of 248 gigs in 117 cities, covering 23 countries, with 11 trucks carrying 52 tonnes of equipment. It was seen by over two and a half million people.
