These were albums Hubbard made after leaving Blue Note and during his transition toward more soul, funk, and avant-garde-leaning jazz. That said, most of the cuts on this two-disc collection are still acoustic-based jazz with plenty of groove, swing, and bluesy, muscular improvisation.
