CD reissue. Lord Buckley was a singular comedian and performance artist, much beloved of the Beach Generation.
Michael Packenham, writing in The Baltimore Sun, described him as "a magnificent stand-up comedian... Buckley's work, his very presence, projected the sense that life's most immortal truths lie in the inextricable weaving together of love and irony - affection for all humanity married to laughter."
His fans included such disparate characters as Ken Kesey, George Harrison, Frank Zappa and Robin Williams. Frank Zappa was such a big fan that he released records by Buckley nearly a decade after his death. Most recently, Damon Albarn of Blur sampled Buckley heavily in the title track of his recent Everyday Robots album. This impeccable slice of hipster cool was first released in 1966, six years after the 54 year old Buckley died of a stroke.
